HVAC TIPS — Hot Water Heater

• Check to make sure the pilot is lit.


• Also check for gas service by checking other gas appliances (stove, dryer, oven, water heater).


• If the water is not hot enough, check the thermostat (near the bottom of the tank) to make sure that it is at a reasonable setting. Be careful not to set the temperature too high to prevent scalding.


• If the water heater is leaking (water on the floor), guess what? You need a new one.


• When buying a hot water heater make sure to check the recovery rate to assure that you will get an adequate amount of hot water.
