HVAC TIPS — Air Conditioner
- Check to make sure that you have power to your furnace and air conditioning unit. You can check for power at the circuit breaker panel. There is also a power switch on the furnace that should be in the “on” position.
- Check your filter. All furnaces have a filter and changing your filter is the single most important thing you can do for your system. We suggest checking your filter monthly to make sure that it is clean. If you have an electronic air filter or permanent filter, these filters must be washed several times during the course of the year.
- Make sure to turn your humidifier off during the summer season. You can so this by turning the humidistat dial to the “off” or 0% position.
- Make sure that nothing is caught in or obstructing air flow to your condensing unit outside, including, plants, bushes, decks, etc. Trim any shrubs surrounding your unit.
- Hose down your condensing unit twice during the summer to clean it of any debris (especially during cottonwood season). Make sure that power to the unit has been shut off.
